January ends...

I want to use Dreamwidth more than I do, but I'm intimidated by long-form posting! It's so much easier to just blurt half-baked, two-sentence thoughts into the void on twt or masto. Here, it feels like the expectations are a whole lot higher.

What kind of life updates can I give you? Well, in 2022, my girlfriends and I bought a townhouse together, and last week we got the keys!

I've been excited but I'm also extremely stressed out, because moving is terrifying, and while Rachie and I have developed a good system through living together these last 5 years, I'm nervous about bringing the other girls into the picture. 

Right now we're busy dealing with things like wiring the unfinished basement, arranging the delivery of the new couch (with sleeper, so guests welcome to visit!), selecting paint so we can paint our bedrooms, and arguing about whose dinnerware is being saved vs whose will be donated. We've been taking plenty of breaks to sit in the hot tub and enjoy the view, though! 


 

In fandom news, I have been actively listening to NCT music, now that Ellie has built me a playlist of more than just gang vocals and shouting, and of course I am still inhaling the long and plotty fic of NCT fandom. I've read over a million words of NCT fic since discovering Jaehyun in early December, and I still feel that new-fandom craving for more. I've been tracking some of the fic I'm reading on my rec spreadsheet, but I'm wondering if it's worth posting my own small-time rec list to my DW?

In related news, someone on masto recced a BTS fic, and I'm trying that out too! It feels like it's been a couple of years since I last felt engaged with a BTS fic, and I'm relishing the feeling once again.

Overall, the year is off to a tolerable start. There have, of course, been some petty issues and some hurt feelings around fandom and friends, but I'm just an overly chatty person while also being extremely sensitive, so that's unavoidable. But I'm trying to make the conscious decision not to let someone ruin the things I enjoy, so we'll see how that goes!

Pictures never seem to work for me!! How do you people add them? I've tried using the image URL, copying and pasting into the post box... DW is too hard for me!

Congrats on the house!

I see a lot of very short posts on dw too, it's fine to post as much or as little as you like.

For images I either upload it to my image file on dw (you don't get much storage though so be warned) or I hotlink it from my tumblr or twitter.
